Multilevel Accessible Cooking Grate

• Model M-32 accessible campfire ring features a flat rear panel so wheelchairs can have closer access to the cooking grate and adjustment handles. The 300 sq. inch cooking grate adjusts to 4 levels between 19" and 24" above the ground. This firering design allows the grate to be adjusted one side at a time, using only one hand; without tight grasping, pinching or twisting of the wrist; and does not exceed 10 lbf. to lift.

• The firering is rolled using 3/16" thick steel, with 1" formed flange for strength and safety. The adjustment panels are cut from 3/16" steel, and also serve as heat shields. The cooking grate is welded together using 5/8" dia. handle/support bars and 1/2" dia. grate bars, and includes handle grips of 1/8" x 1/2" coiled steel. The finish is high temp non-toxic black enamel paint. Pin anchors provide a fixed location (See Anchor Systems).

• The ring is filled with aggregate (not included) to about 10-1/2" deep to provide the elevated fire surface. This fill also insulates the ground to reduce the chance of root fires in heavily wooded areas. Drain/draft holes are provided around the perimeter of the firering.

Single Level Cooking Grate

• Model FS-30/18/PA accessible campfire ring includes the simple single level cooking grate. The 290 sq. inch grate can be laid over the fire, or tipped over and out of the firering, but it remains permanently hinged to the ring. This taller firering, available in 18" or 24" tall designs, brings the cooking surface to a convenient height for use from a wheelchair.

• The firering is rolled using 3/16" thick steel, with 1" formed flange for strength and safety. The welded cooking grate uses a 3/4" dia. handle bar, 5/8" dia. perimeter bar and 1/2" dia. grate bars, and includes handle grips of 1/8" x 1/2" coiled steel. Finished with high temp non-toxic black enamel paint. Pin anchors provide a fixed location (See Anchor Systems).

• The ring is filled with aggregate (not included) to about 9" above the ground to provide the elevated fire surface. This fill also insulates the ground to reduce the chance of root fires in heavily wooded areas. Drain/draft holes are provided around the perimeter of the campfire ring.

These designs have been developed in conjunction with parties interested in providing accessibility in their facilities, and with design guidelines set forth by PLAE, Inc., and the USDA Forest Service in the book “Outdoor Recreation Guidelines” (FSORAG). We have also consulted the guidelines issued by ADAAG. Due to the changing nature of the ADA guidelines, we make no claim that these designs conform in every respect to current/revised ADA criteria. The purchaser must determine suitability for use in a particular facility.

Double Walled Firering

• Model FSDW-30/18/TB accessible campfire ring offers a full-height outer ring as a heat barrier for the inner ring. 1" diameter draft holes feed air into the space between the rings. This unit does not require aggregate fill because it is equipped with a fire/log grate inside the firering. Designed to accommodate a person in a wheelchair, but all campers will find this firering a versatile complement to their campsite. Tip back anchor pins secure the unit in place (See Anchor Systems).

• Fabrication includes a 1/8" thick steel outer ring with the formed reinforcing flange, and a 3/16" thick steel inner ring. Both rings are 17-3/8" tall. The 350 sq. inch single level cooking grate is permanently hinged to the outer ring. Inside is the large 445 sq. inch log grate. This log grate is hinged to the inner ring and tips up to simplify ash clean out. The cooking and fire grates are fabricated using 5/8" dia. perimeter and handle bars with coiled steel bar grips, and 1/2" dia. grate bars. This campfire ring is finished with high temp non-toxic black enamel paint.

Multilevel Grate – Double Walled

• Accessible campfire ring Model LDW-36/18/TB includes a full-height outer ring to serve as a heat barrier for the inner ring. It also features a 300 sq. inch 4-level adjustable cooking grate.

• 1/8” (10 ga.) outer ring with 1” formed top flange, 3/16” (7 ga.) inner ring, 17-3/8” tall fire barrier.

• Three formed steel angles welded between rings form a 2” wide air space. Both rings include a series of 1” dia. (nom.) drain and draft holes. 3/16” thick steel panels support the cooking grate in 4 locations and help shield grate handles from heat.

• 300 sq. inch cooking grate is all welded ½” dia. steel bars supported by 5/8” dia. handle bars, 1/8” x ½” coiled flat steel bar handle grips.

• Includes two tip back anchor pins to secure ring in place but allow ring to tip up for clean out (do not use aggregate fill).

• Finished with high temp non toxic black enamel paint.
