Why You should use Recycled Plastic

We’ve all heard the phrase “reduce, reuse, recycle” and we believe that’s a good thing. Why mummify something in a landfill when it could be reconstituted into something useful again? At R.J. Thomas Mfg. Co., we recycle all of our manufacturing scraps (steel, aluminum, plastic, cardboard, pallets), and office materials (paper, computers, monitors, ink cartridges). It helps the environment, and the best part is that it’s really easy to do— even within our products.

Recycled plastic park benches can last for generations.

So how many milk jugs are rescued from the landfill when you buy a recycled plastic park bench? Our CXB channel park bench series would consume 613 milk jugs to make six 2×4 planks.  Another bench, the WRB contour park bench series would salvage 1,227 milk jugs.  Every time you use a recycled plastic park bench in your landscape, you make a significant impact on reducing what ends up in the landfill.

Here’s another benefit to consider.  Does your city, school or civic organization have a program to encourage residents to recycle?  A recycled plastic park bench can serve as a visual, real-life example of what can be made with the materials people recycle.  They can see the evidence and benefits of recycling by enjoying use of the recycled bench. This helps encourage participation in your recycle programs.

So think “green” when you are looking for benches for your park, streetscape, or campgrounds. Recycled plastic benches are perfect for swimming pools, locker rooms, and other high humidity areas.
